Safety alert: Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip and Flip XT'Minor technical issue' identified on pushchairs
07 July 2016
Mamas and Papas has issued a quality notice for its Armadillo Flip and Armadillo Flip XT pushchairs after the seat on some models flipped backwards when being pushed.
It described the problem, caused by a loose catch on the seat, as a 'minor technical issue' that only affected a 'very small number of cases' and stresses that the issue does not put the child in danger, and there are no reports of any children being injured.
Mamas and Papas response
After an eagle-eyed Which? member alerted us to this issue, spotted while researching pushchairs online, the Which? Baby & Child team contacted Mamas and Papas to investigate the problem, and a Mamas and Papas spokesperson told us:
'We have identified a minor technical issue with the Armadillo Flip and Armadillo Flip XT.
'We are in the process of contacting customers to invite them to visit a Mamas & Papas store or arrange a free home collection so we can conduct a full test and, if required, make a minor technical adjustment to rectify the issue.
'We would like to apologise to customers and stress that the issue does not pose a safety risk. We take product quality and assurance very seriously and the safety of our customers is always our primary concern."
What should you do?
Anyone who owns one of the pushchairs is being asked to go into any of the Mamas and Papas stores which will immediately return your pushchair to the service centre for a full technical inspection and repair if necessary.
Mamas and Papas is not offering a refund or an exchange on any affected products. It told us the fault has been fixed, so all current pushchairs and new orders are unaffected.
If you have any questions, please contact the Mamas and Papas customer services team on 03332 412154.

Which? pushchair testing
We test how safe and durable each pushchair is to use, how well each one is made and how sturdy and stable it is. We also test the quality of its locking mechanisms and brakes. As well as carrying out in-depth tests on every model, we get our parent panel members to try and rate each pushchair with their child – so we can tell you what it's really like to use day to day.
