As the Thoresen report into generic financial advice is published, Which? chief executive, Peter Vicary-Smith says:
“Which? welcomes the publication of the Thoresen report which recognises and endorses the value of a national scheme to give consumers access to generic financial advice. We have been campaigning for over five years for a national service, which we believe is in the interests of consumers, industry and society.
“Otto Thoresen has, in his report, positively demonstrated the advantages of a money guidance service. The challenge is for Government, industry and consumer groups to make it work.
“Which? is fully behind the principles of this proposal and will support initiatives to bring it to fruition. We look forward to the Government and the FSA providing seedcorn funding to ensure momentum continues.”
