Tot Seat travel high chair
If you and your little one eat out a lot or travel frequently, the Tot Seat travel high chair is well-designed, portable product that is well worth considering.
Tot Seat highchair for families on the go
Your favourite local eateries may cater for little ones, but what about when you head away from home – say on holiday or when visiting grandparents? The Tot Seat is a fabric chair harness which converts dining chairs of all shapes and sizes to a high chair and is suitable for babies who can sit up unaided (6-8 months) up to 30 months.
Tot Seat is the brainchild of a Scottish mum. Portable and lightweight, Tot Seat folds easily back into its carrying bag and weighs just 250g, or the same as five nappies. It wont take up much space in a handbag or nappy bag, or could sit in the car until needed. Made from polycotton, it is fully machine washable, too.
The Tot Seat's instructions are concise and easy to understand, and you'll be off and running (or rather eating) in no time. Within minutes of arriving in a restaurant you'll have your little one securely seated in the Tot Seat and your hands free to help them and yourself to food.
The Tot Seat is very easy to use
The Tot Seat is very easy to use. Simply slip it over the back of a chair, adjust the length and clip firmly. The Tot Seat's detachable cummerbund provides back support so the wee one will not slip backwards through the chair, but you can skip this step if the chair you are using has a firm back. Remember though that the Tot Seat will be only as stable as the chair it's sitting on and you should never leave your child unattended when they are in the seat.
Lots of thought has been put into the design to ensure that it fits almost any freestanding chair and mums' forums all seem to agree that the Tot Seat will reliably fit almost any chair you care to try it on.
The Tot Seat is absolutely ideal for bigger babies – it gives them a helping hand to sit upright and they can eat from the table with minimal reaching. For smaller babies or those who are only just starting to sit up, you may prefer a sturdier traditional high chair like the one you are likely to have at home.
The Tot Seat, launched back in 2004, comes in a range of different fabrics and is stocked in major department stores as well as independents. It costs £21.50 (or an extra £1 for denim) if you buy direct from Tot Seat. You should be able to get one slightly cheaper by shopping around online.
The Child Accident Prevention Trust gets 20p from the sale of every Tot Seat.
Pros: Easy to use, portable, machine washable, useful
Cons: May not be sturdy enough for smaller babies
