Bookmarking

Resume
This lets you start playing a disc from where you left off. Some can do this with a number of discs, as shown.

Flexible recording
Makes sure the programme you record fits onto the disc. The recorder matches the length of the programme to the amount of space left on the disc by adjusting recording speeds.

Compatible discs (playback)

MP3
The machine can play recordable CD discs containing MP3 files.

JPeg
Can playback discs containing .jpg picture files, displaying pictures on screen. These may be self-created discs or picture discs from processors.

DVD Audio
Can play discs in this new audio format, which claims superior sound quality to conventional CDs. Some DVD-Audio discs also have surround sound.

Surround sound
