Greeting cards software: How to buy

Websites and software will help you be creative

Production costs vary between using software and creating cards online. After the initial cost layout for software, home printing (around £1 a card) is cheaper than the average cost of £3 when using the websites we tested.

If you plan to make a large number of cards then investing in software would be more cost-effective. This method also gives you more scope for being creative.

Time savers

If you don’t have much time to spare, greeting card websites will allow you to design and order a card quickly. You can also bypass having to print out your cards, which can sometimes prove problematic when using software.

Quality

The quality of cards produced using software will vary depending on the printer you’re using. If you have a relatively old printer it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to produce cards of a similar standard to those purchased in card shops.

If a professional finish is important to you then creating cards on one of the websites on test would be a better option.
