Greeting cards software: How we test

Some cards on a mantlepiece

Creating greeting cards should be fun

We asked our panel of reader testers to design and print cards using the greeting cards software packages on test. They also designed and ordered cards using greeting card websites.

They rated the software or website on how much fun they had using it, how professional their printed card looked, the choice of designs and tools available for personalising them.

Design

The products we tested aim to make it easier for you to design greeting cards on your computer by giving you templates and editing functions. Our test panel rated the finished cards on how professional they looked.

Fun and easy to use

Making greeting cards should be fun, even when you do them on a computer. Our testers were asked to rate how much fun they had using the websites and the software packages and how easy they were to use.

Extra tools

Some products we tested had numerous extra tools such as photograph editing and extra templates for numerous special occasions.

Printing

Printing out greeting cards can be difficult to get right. Our test panel was asked how well the print previews compared to the printed card. When testing the websites we looked at the quality of prints they offer as well as the costs.
