Jug blenders: How to buy
Base your decision on features and style
First, consider whether a smoothie maker or a jug blender will best suit your needs. Our reviews of smoothie makers will help you decide between the two.
Some people prefer toggle switches to rotary dials
How often will you use it?
Then think how often you're likely to need to blend, and how much you're likely to be blending - jug blenders vary in size from about 1 litre to 2 litres, so if you're making more than a couple of glasses of smoothies, for example, you'll need one of the larger jugs.
Base your decision on features and style
Use our 'Features explained' sections to decide which features are important to you - for example if you need to store it inside a kitchen cupboard, check the dimensions and weight.
It's unlikely you'll be able to see jug blenders in action in the shops, but if you can check out the control buttons and and lid to see how easy they are to use, that may help you decide.
Style is also an important factor if you're planning to have it on permanent display in your kitchen. Metal bases and glass jugs tend to look more impressive than plastic.
