Most stain removers are universal ones which can be used for any stain. With others, such as Dylon and Stain Devils, you need to pick specialist versions which are suitable for specific stains.
Application
There are different methods of application, too.
PowdersÂ
Loose powders are designed to go directly in the washing machine or for pre-soaking. You can also buy powder in tablet form.
Liquids
Most stain removers are liquid which you spray onto the fabric or dab on using in-built applicators.
Solid stain removers
The Vanish stick has a solid stain remover, which looks a bit like soap but is enclosed in a plastic case, similar to some deodorants.
