Which? Switch customer stories

Andrew Brown switched and saved with Which? Switch

Andrew Brown saved £225 switching from Scottish Power to Ovo Energy using Which? Switch.

The 43-year-old civil servant had been a Scottish Power customer for eight years before comparing and switching energy tariffs using Which? Switch.

Andrew says: 'I'd been fairly happy with the service I'd received from Scottish Power, but found getting hold of its customer services department difficult and its complex range of similar-sounding tariffs confusing - it was hard to tell if I was on the best value energy tariff.'

Andrew used Which? Switch to compare online dual fuel energy tariffs. He says: 'First Utility and Ovo Energy both came up offering me a saving of over £200 a year on my energy bills.'

Although First Utility offered the biggest potential saving of £240, Andrew chose Ovo Energy as his new gas and electricity supplier, with a saving of £225. 'I chose Ovo Energy because it offered a simple selection of tariffs and had a greater emphasis on green energy - plus it is easy to contact by phone using a free 0800 number.'

Andrew had tried other energy supplier switching sites but chose Which? Switch to make his switch: 'I trust Which? Switch more than other comparison sites - it's a not-for-profit organisation and can be trusted to be truly impartial.'

Diane Jenkins saved £300 by switching to an online energy tariff

Diane Jenkins from Bristol 'needed a stiff drink' after reading her last dual fuel statement, and was prompted to get a better deal when she found Which? Switch.

She was impressed with the simplicity of the site, having found other switching sites too difficult. Diane says: 'The site was incredibly simple to use and I was given a list of suppliers, what I would save with each one and impartial advice on their customer satisfaction ratings.

'I have considered changing before but found other websites far too complicated and almost impossible to make a like-for-like comparison.'

Before switching, Diane had been with Scottish Power through Sainsbury's for five years, but by using Which? Switch she discovered that by switching to an online tariff with Scottish Power she could make considerable savings on both gas and electricity.

She notes that there was one cheaper supplier but the Which? Switch customer satisfaction rating was not as good, so she chose Scottish Power Online because: 'it's important to me to have accessible and easy to contact suppliers'.

Spending less than 10 minutes at Which? Switch helped Diane save over £300 per year.
