Replying to emails

How to reply to emails

Including the original message in replies can be a waste of time and money, as the bigger the email the longer it takes to send. Here's how to hide the original message:

Select Tools > Options from the main Outlook Express menu bar. Click on the Send tab at the top of the Options dialog box.

Untick the box next to Include message in reply.

Searching for emails

The more email you receive, the harder it is to stay on top of it. But Outlook Express' search facilities can help you locate lost or forgotten messages.

Tip 4: using Find to manage email

Using Find to manage email

Click on the Find icon in the main Outlook Express toolbar. To search for emails from a particular person, enter their name in the From text box. To look for a sent email, enter the recipient's name in the To text box. Click Find Now when ready to search, and the box at the bottom should fill up with results.

To narrow your search further, look for emails with specific words in the subject lines or body of messages. You can also refine searches by date – useful if you want to find the minutes of a club meeting from November, say, without those from September, October and December showing up. If you're searching for a file you received as an attachment, tick the box labelled 'Message has Attachments'.
