Video DownloadHelper
The Video DownloadHelper Firefox add-on simplifies the process of downloading videos and images from websites. According to the developers, Video DownloadHelper is compatible with YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, DailyMotion, Porkolt, Spike and other video sites.
One of the time-saving features that the Video DownloadHelper add-on offers is the ability to download all the images or movies on a page in one step. Video DownloadHelper also queues downloads so that they download one at a time, which reduces the bandwidth required so you can continue to surf the web at speed.
Video DownloadHelper also offers the option of installing a separate video converter application, which will automatically convert the file format (from .FLV to .AVI, for example) when the video has downloaded to your computer.
Cooliris
If you regularly use Photo-sharing websites or search for images on Google then the Cooliris add-on lets you view images on compatible websites on a ‘3D Wall’. This works in a similar way to the 'Cover flow' system used on Apple's iTunes and iPods so you can smoothly scroll through all the images on a particular webpage, and even zoom in on chosen images. If you register with Cooliris, you can also email your friends links to photos, or compile your favourites onto a personalised ‘wall’.
According to Cooliris's developers, Cooliris works on ‘hundreds of Media RSS-enabled websites and blogs', including Google Images, YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, Bebo, Photobucket, KodakGallery, and Picasa Web Albums. Image search engines such as Yahoo, Ask, Live, and AOL are also supported.
Once you’ve installed Cooliris, small icons will appear at the bottom left corner of images and videos on compatible sites, and you simply click on the icon to start the Cooliris add-on.
