Firefox offers tabbed browsing, which enables you to open multiple web pages in the same Firefox window, each with its own tab. You can then switch quickly between tabs.
Tabbed browsing offers many time-saving functions, including being able to set your favourite bookmarks to automatically load when you start Firefox. So, for example, if you always open the Which? website, BBC iPlayer, Twitter and Flickr, these can be set to open as tabs on startup.
Tab Mix Plus
The Tab Mix Plus (TMP) add-on gives additional customisable capabilities, so tabs are even more useful. Features include the ability to duplicate tabs, choose which tab is selected (in focus) when you click on a link, and the ability to re-open tabs that you’ve closed accidentally.
Colorful Tabs
As simple yet effective as its name would suggest, the Colorful Tabs add-on lets you customise the colour of individual tabs, so if you’ve got a large number of tabs open, they’re not all grey, and it’s easy to see at a glance which one’s which. You can also fade the colour of all the tabs apart from the active tab, and choose random or context-sensitive colours.
