How do I find items to buy on eBay?
Advanced search will help you track down unusual items
It can be hard to find what you want on the eBay site. A search for Brer Rabbit on eBay UK returned more than 60 results.
But when we clicked Advanced search and typed: Enid Blyton Brer Rabbit, and under the heading ‘In this category’ selected ‘Books’, this cut the number of results to 21.
How can I be sure about the quality of the item?
Many of the items for sale via eBay are secondhand and the quality obviously varies.
Read the item description carefully, in particular, details such as make, model and vintage, as well as any information about the condition. Look for a photograph of the item as well as the description.
How can I be sure about the eBay seller?
Good, reliable sellers will have a higher score
Whenever you buy from an eBay seller you are invited to leave feedback about them, whether they delivered on time and so on. But what does a seller’s Feedback Score mean? All sellers start out with a feedback rating of zero.
For every positive piece of feedback you give a seller eBay adds one point, for every negative feedback they take one away; the higher the feedback rating, the better.
Look for 'Powersellers' who must have traded on eBay for at least 90 days and had average monthly sales of £750 per month. They must also have an eBay Feedback Rating of 98 per cent or more.
