As well as password protecting documents, you can encrypt data on your computer. This is a particularly useful extra line of defence for laptops, as their portability means they’re much more likely to be lost or stolen than your desktop.
Data encryption is a way of coding information so that only an authorised person or computer with the appropriate 'encryption key' can decode it. This is useful for any files you might have that contain sensitive information, like bank details, addresses and other personal data.
