Using Windows Vista's System Restore
Windows Vista’s System Restore takes a snapshot of your system when major changes occur, for example when you install new programs. You can roll back your PC to these points if it’s unstable.
Go to Start > Control panel > System and maintenance > Backup and restore center.
Click Use System Restore to fix problems and undo changes to Windows.
Click Open system protection > Create. Select Name your restore point > Create > OK.
To restore, open System Restore as above > Next.
Select your restore point then click Next then Finish.
