How to print digital photo calendars from Photoshop Elements

One of the great things about digital photography is that it gives us so much control over how we edit and print digital photos. Image-editing software lets us use digital photographs to print invites, greetings cards, photo collages and pretty much anything we want. However, one thing that’s overlooked is printable calendars. Here, we’ll look at how to make a calendar using Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Up to version 5.0, Adobe Photoshop Elements offered the ability to print wall calendars, but this feature was ditched from Photoshop Elements 6.0 onwards.

While Apple’s excellent iPhoto does offer a printed calendar feature, this is a paid-for service – a 12-month calendar costs £11.99, not including VAT or postage. There are also countless online photo-printing services that offer calendar printing at a similar price.

But if you’d rather print your own 2009 calendar or 2010 calendar at a far lower cost – either for yourself or as a gift for others – then it’s still possible to do this using Photoshop Elements.

Finding downloadable calendar dates

Before you start making your calendar, you’ll need to find some downloadable monthly calendar dates, because creating these manually would be painstaking.

There are plenty of places online where blank calendars can be downloaded free of charge, but one of the best sites is Printable Calendars, because each month is available as a PDF file, for both 2009 calendars and 2010 calendars. PDF is an ideal file format for creating a calendar in Photoshop Elements.
