Apple iTunes tips and tricks Toolbars and layout in iTunes
Shrink iTunes windows
You can shrink the iTunes window to regain space on your desktop. To do this, go to View > Switch to Mini Player. This turns iTunes into a smaller version of itself.
You can’t browse your library of music downloads or view album art, but the Mini Player features basic play/pause forward/back buttons and will tell you what track is playing.
Click the left-hand button with the square in it to return iTunes back to normal.
Use the iTunes toolbar button
You can set iTunes to appear in the taskbar that runs along the bottom of your screen. Right-click anywhere on the Windows taskbar, go to Toolbars and click iTunes from the list that appears.
Now when you click the minimise button in the top right-hand corner of the main iTunes window, it will shrink down to a small set of controls on your taskbar.
Switch to Grid View
In the top toolbar, just to the left of the Search box you’ll see three buttons labelled ‘View’. Click the middle one (marked with a symbol of six little squares).
This will switch the main browser window to Grid View, which displays all your albums as small thumbnails of the CD sleeve art. Click Artist, Album, Genre or Composer at the top of the window to organise your library by these different criteria.
Use large text
To make the text larger in iTunes’ main library window and the left-hand taskbar, go to Edit > Preferences. Under the General tab, select Large from the drop-down menus next to both Source Text and List Text and then click OK.
