  1. These figures are claimed battery life from the manufacturer. In our lab, the 8GB iPod Touch's battery provided 8.5 hours of video and 53.5 hours of audio playback per charge.

Galaxy Player 50 and iPod Touch head-to-head

In terms of specifications, the Apple iPod Touch (4th generation) has a larger and higher resolution screen, a healthier battery life, is lighter and shoots higher resolution video.

The higher specifications the Samsung Galaxy Player 50 has over the iPod touch include the still photography resolution and the wireless connectivity options. Furthermore, you can replace the battery on the Galaxy Player 50 and boost the memory capacity by inserting an SD memory card - both of which you can't do on the iPod Touch.

Of course the most significant comparison between the two MP3 players shall be the sound quality - and something we'll only be able to comparatively test in our labs. You can read the full lab-based reviews of the iPod Touch 4th generation in our MP3 report, and we'll be looking to test the Samsung galaxy Player 50 under the same controlled conditions later this year.
