Pure One Classic review
http://www.which.co.uk/technology/audio/reviews/digital-radios/pure-one-classic/review/
The Pure One Classic is a fairly compact, portable DAB/FM radio. For such a small radio, it sports a number of handy extras including and auxiliary input for playing music from an MP3 player or iPod through the radio's speakers and the ability to pause and rewind digital radio. This Pure DAB radio is available in black, white and pink and includes bass and treble controls - we put it through our tests to see how it sounds.

The radio has far too much bass and the controls don't allow sufficient treble to make listening to spoken word programmes a pleasure. With bass set to minimum, and treble to maximum, it's tolerable but only just. My second point relates to using it with a rechargeable battery. There's the common problem of having to wait several seconds for the radio to switch on or off after pressing the button, but I'm most unhappy about the way in which the 'listen later' feature is advertised. It was only when I got to the small print in the manual that I appreciated that the automatic record and playback later feature only works when the radio is switched onto standby whilst connected to the mains. As the radio was bought for use in a bathroom, this is never going to be the case. Which means I could have bought a cheaper alternative, given that the feature I bought the model for will never be used. I was left feeling very disappointed and annoyed that - despite researching the product thoroughly - this limitation to the heavily promoted feature wasn't mentioned anywhere in the sales literature. The reception was good on both DAB and FM and the controls, although fiddly to use, were fine once you got used to them. After about 6 months the display would not work for a while when it was first switched on which made changing channels impossible until the display appeared. After about 3 years it failed completely which made the radio unusable. Maybe we were unlucky, but we definitely did not get value for money out of this purchase. Pros: Cons:

I also think channel changing is not easy. Pros: Cons:

I have 2 other pure radioa & they are very nice - good sound, reasonable DAB reception, although both are so badly affected by "burble" if you start a laptop near them i end up turning them off.The main problem with this little radio is the electronics at its heart - the tuner that collect the DAB signal. Its a cut down version and that means it receives NO DAB station even when its right beside the other 2 when they are performing OK. Maybe its just a faulty set you say.... Well, that's what i thought, so i took it back to Currys & bought another on-line from Amazon. That suffered the same fate & is going back today. When I've looked at other review sites, it seems this is fairly common with many comments about the reception. I'd relegate it from a "best buy" to a "don't buy" personally & have advised Pure exactly the same. I await their response (but not holding my breath) with interest.Very disappointing as this was a present. Maybe we should be asking Which for a DAB reception strength measure on the review tables ? Aside from that I think this is a great kitchen radio- I thinkthe presets are easy to use (despite the main review) and it has all the features you need for a kitchen radio (including a handy timer). Its nice to support a UK designer..even if its manufactured in china! The only word of warning is the shelf life doesn't appear great (I bought a siesta clock radio and that died after 2 years too?)..the 2nd one classic is still going now..after about 2 years!!! Lots of others have reported the same thing on amazon. It seemed an ideal small radio for the kitchen-- the chargepak is really useful. Very disappointed -- this is the shortest lived radio I have ever had. I'll never buy a Pure radio again, Pros: Cons:

wrote: | wasteman wrote: I have had this radio just over a year. I am fairly satisfied but it does have a few disadvantages. It takes a long time to start up and changing preset channels is a bit laborious taking a button push adjusting a dial followed by another button push. It could do with additional volume. It is OK for normal listening but struggles to compete with kitchen equipment. The rechargeable batteries have a short life, at least on FM, and the charge indicator does not give much warning that they are nearly empty. The additional I-Pod dock is useful but expensive. It easy to carry about. Pros: Cons:
