Five stars!!
Best portable DAB I have used and I have tried several others, this was the only one that performed properly in the shop. I think this is a good test of reception due to all the interference there. I has good to excellent reception most places locally (Oxford) and there is little fade etc when you move about. Just supposing DAB is not so good where you go… It has FM too! Love the internal speaker, no hifi but for the size good enough. Cant praise this enough. Out performs the Bose unit at 4 times the price!

Best of it's type
This radio is the smallest portable DAB radio I have come across with a speaker. It's made for people who want to keep up with other games whilst watching their own team, and if you're with somebody, you can listen to reports together, which is not possible with a headphone only set. I've experimented with several units, plugging a portable speaker into the headphone socket. Unfortunately the headphone cord usually acts as an aerial, and this has never been successful. With the Roberts radio, you have an aerial, which in my experience doesn't have to be pulled out very far to get a decent signal on DAB. The radio is aimed at sports fans, hence the name, and you need DAB to get decent quality on BBC's Radio 5 live. I suspect most people buying this radio will already have a DAB radio for home, but this unit is unique at present in offering small portable DAB reception without the fuss of wires from a headset. Brilliant!

I have had this mod...
I have had this model for about 6 months, having previously used Pure and Sony portables. It is a superb set for its' type, when used with reasonable quality headphones. It also has the advantage of having an external speaker, which no other set of this type has. The speaker is not hi-fi quality but you would not expect that, but it is fine if you are wanting to do something in the kitchen or elsewhere and you do not want the headphone lead obstructing you. This set is versatile, has decent sound quality with reasonable headphones and long battery life with its built in rechargeable battery. Reception is very good, depending on your local area. I can receive 53 DAB stations at my location in north west England.

Superb DAB portable
This has got to be the best portable radio on the market.Over a period of 10 years i have used a variety of portable radio's on my walks and now walking the dog early in a morning. This radio gives superb audio quality and there are no breaks in reception when using DAB It is unfair of the Which? review team to compare this pocket size radio with any other product, which if used with a reasonable around the ear phones gives great stereo sound. After one charge the lithium battery has lasted over 28 hrs . Be fair Which ? do compare this radio with other like products

This is my third portable DAB, and by far the best. Others I've bought have ended up back at the shop because of poor reception. This radio has excellent reception, most of the time. I use it on my walk to work and also when I'm using the bus. Which? is a bit mean marking it at just 54% because a: sound is poor (it's not - I have a decent pair of headphones and it sounds great) b: it doesn't connect to a stereo (why would you need that?) and c: there's no alarm (radios, clocks, phones etc have these). This radio does just what you want from a portable DAB - delivers great reception.
