Planning your recording
A little time planning your film can you save you work later.
You can take some stunning footage around sunset
Choose your time
Around 30 minutes or so before sunset is a great time to shoot video as the natural light has a lovely, warm tone to it.
Shoot for the audience
Most good home videos are less than 30 minutes in length. Consider your audience before you shoot - or indeed before you edit. What would they like to see?
Sometimes it’s better to film ‘too much’ – you can then cut down your footage with video editing software to ensure your final film has all the interesting bits and none of the boring bits.
Filming people
Certain people don’t like to be filmed so it's wise to ask them first. This is particularly relevant when overseas and/or around different cultures and religious groups.
Choose the best camcorder
Picking a high-quality camcorder will help you achieve crisp, colourful footage, and the best models have plenty of features to help you take great videos.
