CES 2011: Tablets at CES 2011 Asus Eee Pad MeMo
A 7-inch Android tablet, the Eee Pad MeMo is the baby of the Asus tablet range. It runs Android 3.0 and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that’s capable of 1080p video playback.
With its 7-inch screen, the MeMo should be a natural competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It’ll have plenty of other competition, though, as close to 100 other tablets are due to be announced at CES 2011 this year.
At its heart is a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which can play 1080p video. The MeMo has a mini-HDMI output so you can output video to your TV or monitor, too.

IPS display
The 7-inch screen, like all the new Asus tablets, uses an LCD display that uses IPS panel technology. This should give it an advantage in colour fidelity and viewing angles, but we’ll be the judge of that when we get a hands-on with the MeMo later in the show.
Asus has taken the unusual step of including a stylus with the MeMo. It’ll be interesting to see whether it’s necessary for using the touchscreen, or if it’ll work equally as well if operated with your fingers.

Dual-cameras
Also included are front and rear facing cameras, so you can video chat over the internet and take still photos and videos.
Asus has announced US prices of $399 to $699, which would make it quite an affordable tablet. We’ll be taking a closer look at the MeMo later in the week, but you can check the gallery below for more shots of the MeMo and the other new Asus tablet now.
