CES 2011: Tablets at CES 2011 Samsung TX100 tablet
Samsung unveiled its Series 7 sliding tablet PC, otherwise known as the TX100. We were eager to get our hands on it, but it was very much a case of look, but don't touch.
Samsung's TX100 is a compact, lightweight tablet PC, but what sets it apart from the majority is that, like the Asus Eee Pad Slider, it has a slide-out keyboard, giving users the choice of both a touch screen and a familiar keyboard and touch pad interface.

The Samsung TX100 features a 10.1-inch multi-touch LCD display that supports HD resolution (1366x768). Samsung says that its slim design - depth is 21.4mm - and light weight allow for mobility without compromising functionality and that it's the perfect size for watching or editing video online, uploading and viewing images, reading the news or quickly writing emails.

Samsung TX100 keyboard
For those who prefer physical keyboards for quickly typing notes or browsing the web, the TX100 features a full, 80/81-key keyboard tucked away under the display. The keyboard slides completely out creating a laptop-like interface that is coupled with the touch capabilities on the display promising the best of both worlds.
The TX100 runs Microsoft’s Windows 7 home premium operating system and offers full PC functionality - so keyboard shortcuts like 'Ctrl+C' to 'copy' will work. It has an Intel Atom processor, USB/HDMI connections via a dongle, together with microSD card slots and Bluetooth 3.0.
Samsung claims you can enjoy life on-the-go for around 8 hours between battery charges. The SSD also fully supports multi-tasking, not only in the keyboard mode, but also in touch mode.
Applications and connectivity
The TX100 comes with pre-loaded applications that are optimised for the touch screen display. This includes Samsung’s own applications for music, video, photo, note-taking, weather reports, time management and navigation, as well as Windows apps, including Microsoft's Bing maps and voice search.
Samsung says its TX100 can act as a connective hub with other devices allowing you to control, search, swap and play videos, photos, and music across a full range of DLNA-certified Samsung devices, ranging from cameras and smartphones to TVs and PCs.
It will be available with either 32GB or 64GB SSD memory.
