Creative Ziio Android tablets
Creative has revealed three new Android devices, including two Android tablets - the Creative Ziio range. Which? took a first look hands-on video review of the Creative Ziio tablets
Creative Ziio Android tablets
Creative has launched two Ziio Android tablets in time for Christmas 2010: the Creative Ziio 7 and the Creative Ziio 10 Pure Wireless Entertainment tablets - and Which? got a first look review of the models.
Both models run the Android 2.1 operating system, and each features a resistive touchscreen. While resistive touchscreens can be more accurate than capacitive touchscreens, they are less 'finger-friendly' and perform better when used with a plastic stylus.
Neither Ziio versions can access to the Android Market, where around 100,000 apps are available to download. Creative said that when the devices have been upgraded to Android 2.2, this key feature will become available.

Both models offer wi-fi internet connectivity, but not 3G - so web browsing outside of wi-fi hotspots won't be possible. They both offer high-quality Bluetooth audio options, so music saved on the device can be played through a pair of Bluetooth speakers or headphones.
In our hands-on time with the Creative tablets, we were impressed by the audio quality and the simple set up.
The two Ziio tablets offered greater connectivity options than many other tablets that we've seen - including the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Apple iPad.
Connectivity on the Ziio Android tablets
On the Creative Ziios there are mini USB ports, MicroSD and SD memory card slots, a 3.5mm headphone socket and a mini HDMI output. The mini HDMI output allows you to playback videos saved on the tablets on an HD TV - and once again, the set up is very straightforward.
If you choose to watch video on the devices themselves, however, you'll be viewing content in 480x800 resolution on the 7-inch device, and 1024x600 on the 10-inch device.
Both models have a front-facing camera for video calling. They each come in 8GB and 16GB varieties. The 7-inch model weighs 400g, while the 10-inch version tips the scales at 650g.
