Broadband: Compare features & prices Be Unlimited - 12 month contract review Back to Results

Like its parent-company O2, BE is currently subject to a takeover bid by Sky. BE doesn't offer combined phoneline and broadband, let alone TV packages - it simply offers broadband on its own. But how do BE broadband customers rate it for phone support and connection reliability?

I must agree with Terry Tomato, what will happen when they go to Sky. My son uses sky and in our area, the speeds sky provide are half that of BE so it will be a shame to loose such a good product. I've been with them for about 5 years and have never had loss of service or any problems with connection. Oh well Plusnet here I come.Enough said !

BE company bought by SKY
For those who choose not to want SKY in their lives, Be provided a really good package. A very steady package and good customer service. A bit dicey on arranging repairs and arranging 2 engineer visits when 1 may do. With the sale to SKY who knows what will happen to this company. It will be likely that BE customers will be moved onto SKY and that will be the end of BE and less choice in the market place. If you join BE, you really need to consider whether you are happy to be joining SKY and if that is the case, maybe you would be better off cutting out the middle man and go direct. What will happen to BE services after SKY is has got hold of it is anybody's guess. If you decide to go for BE, a short contract is probably advised.

Like a few others, I went with BE because of the fast upload speed. I wasn't prepared for the other benefits though. Reliability, speed and excellent customer service were a very pleasant surprise.I can count on half the fingers of one hand how many times their service has let me down in the 4 years I've been with them. It's a real shame they've been so slow with rolling out a competitive product to BT's Infinity. Look sharp guys, people are jumping ship as we speak.

We've just switched after many issues wth previous provider(tiscali then talk talk). Unbelieveable customer service! Everything they promised happened as expected. That's all you can ask.

I've been using Be's service for over 4 years, Outstanding service, Technical help team are very professional and friendly, they treat there customers with respect and i like the fact that they let you know when the service is going to be down and when it'll back up. Also almost it never happens at the weekend. as you all probably know that BE is part of O2, I received a call from O2 asking if i want to switch to them directly, i said no! the reason is? fear of loss of the great customer service that i received from BE. I recommend BE to everyone whose looking for an ISP with great service.

Love BE
This service beats the pants off any of my previous ISPs. I've been with them for over 2 years and have been 100% satisfied. Customer service has been great. In early September, they are going to provide a bundled service that includes line rental and call options. If an ISP offers fibre-to-the-cabinet in my area, I may be persuaded to leave BE. But I expect that I will win the lottery first.

Great improvement from old ISP
I think these guys are great. I was an old Tiscali customer and doing my crust as the speed and support was rubbish. Be treat you like a proper customer with a brain. Really pleased with the download speeds and no outages. The support staff know their stuff and you can get through to them. I had a odd problem where the ADSL router that they supplied would hang, it needed to be turned off and on again. After a couple of calls and them collecting logs via remote control from my PC they swapped it out. The new one arrived in 2 days. However still had the problem. The guy then said you might have too many connections open. We have 3 PC's Wii, Xbox, iphone and ipods all using it!! Purchase a new router myself that could handle 3000 connections and bingo. We are now working on line settings to improve the speed even more. They really do own the problem and give you loads of updates via e-mail every time they want info or change something. You pay for what you get, go too cheap I think the support suffers.

Only problems were my own making
I've been using Be Unlimited for about a year now. For a while it was appallingly unreliable, but moving the modem closer to the phone socket (it had been on an extension cable) solved everything. I now consistently get 18Mbps download and 1Mbps upload. Never needed to use the Help facilities.

I've used BE internet for my business for some time. It has proven very reliable, with little unscheduled downtime. When there is a planned outage, they tell you in advance, and it is always out of office hours. I've not had recourse to their helpdesk or on-line help. The supplied modem is adequate, though not the easiest to setup (it's a Thomson Speedtouch). The main reason for me using Be Internet is the UPLOAD speed. This means I can get information out of the office quickly - for example, large files (>100MB) which have to go to the litho presses for printing. A 1.2Mb upload speed is a boon. As we are some way from teh telephone exchange, the downlaod speed acheived is only 7Mb (upload is not affected, seemingly), but that is enough for the half dozen PCs and server that is on the internal network.Just the job.
