Laptops: Compare features & prices Samsung Series 3 review

The Samsung Series 3 NP300E5A is a more enticing prospect than your average budget laptop, with a good screen, solid build quality and a surprisingly decent specification. It's a strong package, but one that comes with a few minor issues. Are these enough to stop Samsung's 15.6-inch laptop from being a good-value buy?

Just bought one to avoid Win 8
Just bought one with win 7 after seeing the abortion that win 8 with its childlike squares is.The laptop is everything we need for a family quickie machine in the lounge. (big beast in the study)Its fast, bright sharp display and lovely feel to it.#1 best feature? Non-reflective screen, I do not want to see the ceiling lights reflected into my eyes. NO!

Good general purpose laptop especially with PCWorld Sept 2012 promotion
Have just bought a NP300E5C (I5 processor, 6GB RAM, 750 GB disk) for £400 (1 Sept 2012) from PC World. For this price, which includes a £100 cash-back promotion, its great value. Works from the box pretty quickly- [Uninstalled the Norton AV s/w quickly to replace with Zone Alarm free AV].Good display screen, keyboard seems fine, CD/DVD, webcam all ok. Installed an old copy of MS Office 2003 - all ok (despite the duff information from the salesman that it might not work and I should buy 2010!).

Bought for general use
Bought in January as a general presentation machine for local education charity. I bought the i3 and am very impressed. All the non-USB connectors are on LH edge making it neat to connect to network by cable, sound system, and LCD projector. Also connects reliably to wireless n. Best track pad I have used to date. Lots of demo software which was the first thing to be removed. [Why do they do it?] Changed trial Kaspersky for MS Security Essentials and has been used by many different people with varying capabilities. Good value for those who want a general purpose machine.

Hi, I have just bought a np300, had it for a week and it is superb. It is true what has been said in the review but i have the intel sandycore i5. This runs better, lower tempretures i know because i have had it on my lap for more than 3 hours! Processing power is better, its quicker handles all but the latest high processing games pretty well, battery life has been up to 6 + hours albeit optimising the comp eg brightness, power save etc. If any one looking for a great budget lap top get the np300 but with the i5 chip. I paid £479.99 with 640GB hard drive 4GB RAM at currys on offer at present.
