Garmin Nuvi 1310 review
http://www.which.co.uk/technology/computing/reviews/sat-navs/garmin-nuvi-1310/review/
Ultra slim and affordable, the Garmin Nuvi 1310 has a good range of features, including Lane Assist to help guide you through multi-lane motorway intersections and safety camera information. We have been impressed by previous Garmin models and so we were keen to find out how this sat nav scored in our tests.

When scrolling the screen in map view the screen scrolls on after lifting your finger very frustrating. Maps are strange ie when you zoom out to get an over view of an area it does not show you where the main towns are, it just names obscure small villages. Will be looking at another make next time I buy. Pros: Cons:

The safety Camera is provided by cyclops and like most things you have to pay for annual subscriptions - i would rate this function as average. I bought the lifetime map subscription which gave me European coverage . Pros: Cons:

Eventually replaced with a more expensive Tom Tom Live 120.Preferred the Garmin models to Tom Tom. However I did purchase this again later in the year as it was reduced to £70Seems strange why some functions vary from model to model Bad Points - Bulky Traffic Cable that needs to be attached with suction pads to car windscreen. It also kept getting the speed limits on some roads wrong as well as the speed limits set for the safety cameras. In a 70mph limit it would beep at me that the safety camera limit was 50mph. Or it would miss the safety carmera completely.Has some lovely features but the sound quality is not that great sounded like it was saying clackham not clapham. Not sure whether I will return it or not as unsuitable Pros: Cons:

Garmin weren't too helpful but long suffering Halfords replaced each one without too much problem. After consulting WHICH legal I rejected the Garmin as 'unfit for purchase' and used the refund to buy a Tom Tom XL Live which although not as easy to use, I hope will outlast the 3 weeks which was the longest a Garmin unit lasted. I found it easy to get working (within a minute), easy to use and fun to enter favourites and download PoI files from Garmin. I have also created my own, which is easy. I bought the mains charger because I found it didn't really charge up via USB. Bluetooth is easy and works well. The speaking of road names is really useful. When playing with it at home you can turn off the GPS which saves battery; you can also get it to do 'virtual journeys' which is great fun if you have nothing better to do.A word of warning - I reserved mine on-line from Halfords - should have been about £102; I bought a few other items and on getting home found they had charged me about £130 - my fault for not double checking but next time I will go to Currys.Overall I am very pleased with the device, but I won't shop at Halfords again. However, I did loads of research and chose the Garmin 1310 based on what I learned, what my requiremetns were and the amount of my budget. Only purchased it 4 weeks ago, so not a lot of time to evaluate, except to say that the Garmin 1310 is beautifully made and comes with a simple but perfectly working attachment bracket. You get the usual in-car charger but you need to purchase a separate mains unit or mini USB to standard USB cable, unless like me you have an Ipod type mains unit and an identical digital camera cable. In the box is a slim Quick start guide, but you need to log onto the Garmin website to complete the setup, which immediately gave me a free map update etc. Navigation is straight forward and works well with full post code search etc and so far it's been quick to recalculate routes if you miss turns etc. It appears to have a good 'Points of interest' selection which I've just used to successfully navigate me to a certain shop in a new town for me. Another brilliant feature is to simply put your finger on the car icon and get a comprehensive fix on your position. One drawback (which I believe is relevant to most satnavs!) is that, although the maps do have recent/new roads, they seem in general to be based on very old information.i.e telling you to turn right etc at a point which ceased to be a road junction 20 years ago! Also, safety cameras are identified but no alarm sounds as you get very close to them which greatly detracts from the usefulness of the feature. In summary I'm pleased I bought it - it's slim and pocketable, so great for pedestrian use. Also like the bluetooth feature. Pros: Cons:

The software on my four-year-old TomTom One was far more sophisticated than this! The volume doesn't increase/decrease with the car's speed, the voice is tinny and hard to understand, there is no option to fine-tune a route (eg by avoiding a certain road or town), the speed camera warnings are frequently at the wrong speed, causing unnecessary beeping, and the warning flash obscures the next section of road.Fortunately, the traffic information didn't work on mine, so I was able to return it.NB Mine was the 1390T (ie the same but incl Euro maps and traffic) Pros: Cons:
