BT help line couldn't help, but gave me the clues I needed. It only very occasionally drops Broadband. Speeds are modest here in the village but just about acceptable and sometimes very good. WiFi is fine with our single laptop and I have also connected up visitors without problem. Roll on the Infinity roll out to villages - maybe next year! Pros: Cons:

However, the first hub was faulty and to BT's credit a replacement was sent very quickly. This worked OK for about a week and then kept rebooting. I spoke to BT's help line again and they quickly decided this one was also faulty and number 3 arrived very quickly.Hub number 3 unfortunately also lasted just over a week and then started to have the same faults as number 1 and 2. At his point I gave up and bought an Apple Airport Extreme which has now worked perfectly for nearly 6 months. The Hub 3 was useless but to be fair to BT it's help line were very good and did their best. BT Infinity is great if you do get beyond the hub but for the most part you lose that benefit because of the disconnects and hanging devices. Like many home networks these days I have 3 gadget hungry kids, 5 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 Androids, a Sonos music system, a couple of printers, a Wii, 2 xBoxes and a smart TV (which often says there is network 'interference' and won't play BBC iPlayer for example). We reset the home hub daily and it drives the kids mad when the xBox continually drops out in a live game. We run Mac and Windows PCs on wi-fi and both regularly fail. Even when everyone else has left and I am here on my own during the day - I can physically see my Mac 'polling' the hub and slowing down. Have started doing some testing but can see myself going down the other router option. Which - a test with one laptop isn't really good enough. If you want to test the HH3 and really throw something at it please come to our house! Pros: Cons:

That didn't work and I rang again to find out why they suggested to use the Type B. So a couple of points to consider 1. BT Infinity is good fast and reliable. 2. You can't access it using BT equipment specifically the HH3 because its rubbish - very very poor wifi performance. I have tested it with PC/Mac/Android and Smart TV equipment all around my home. 3. This kind of makes the product redundant unless you know enough to bypass the BT HH3 and get your own wifi access point (which the numpties in the call centre do not recommend of course but they really do not know anything) 4. WHICH - you contradict yourself in the review as pointed out by other reviewers i.e. you say the wifi performance is crap then give it 5 stars ?? I think this review needs revision (!) look at the rest of the comments....5. The HH3 is really rubbish - did I already say that ? Pros: Cons:

With HH2 on speed tests I got an average speed of 32meg download, on a good day 37 ! With HH3 I was getting 10 meg on average with wide variations. One minute I could get 30, the next I was getting 2 ? Gave up when it started crawling along with less than 1 meg, even went as low as 60kbits. Went back to HH2 and got my 32meg average immediately. Something went wrong with the HH3, that is for sure. It is in its box if they want it back ! Pity the poor sod who gets it. Pros: Cons:

wrote: | IainMacb wrote: Poor wifi performance On performance, the review for this product says"The Home Hub 3 is an average performer. When the laptop was in the same room as the router it delivered acceptable connection speeds. But speeds became relatively slow as range increased, which could make bandwidth-intensive tasks more difficult."- and yet it gets five stars. Why?My experience is that it's a very poor performer on wifi. Pros: Cons:

wrote: | preshawpete wrote: Instability a problem Like others I find the HH3 unreliable and constantly needing rebooting otherwise speed falls to dial-up levels. In fact I've installed a time switch to turn it off every night for a couple of hours to reboot it. Despite this we had a day last week when it took four 'reboots' to get it up to speed. Pros: Cons:

I have their V3 hub, it connects & disconnects all the time losing downloads, I pay an additional £9monthly for their BT experts to sort my problems out. However while agreeing with me about something is not correct & leave it with us, & we will sort it & get back to you, of course they never do & if you have the temerity to phone & ask to speak to so & so he/she does not work there, or your reference number is wrong, I have asked today how much it will cost me to cancell my contract, -- £130. & yet again the operator suggests I do this or this ,& contact so & so, its always some one else, I do not see why I should have to keep on resetting my hub.its not surprising BT is losing market share. The only way to maintain speed at a reasonable level was to restart the home hub 3 once or twice a day. ( If this wasn't done speed dropped to dial up speed!) Engineer came out and fitted new home hub - lasted 4 hrs before it failed. New home hub delivered - problems same as the first one. We went out and bought an apple airport extreme to replace the bt hub. Since installation 6 days ago speed is great and not had to restart once - this certainly points to a major fault with the bt home hub 3. BT should acknowledge that the goods are not up to standard and sort this problem out. The forums have lots of listings with similar problems. Pros: Cons:

Now it keeps connecting/disconnecting/or not connecting at all. I have to go through the whole BT help diagnostic process taking out cables and ADSL filters etc then it suddenly starts going again without interruption for perhaps a week and then off we go again. Very frustrating and unreliable! Pros: Cons:
