18 months on now with 4.0.4 upgrade has been a rock solid handset no issues at all. 2.3 was fine too. Browsing online is very good playing iplayer etc all very good. Finally worked out how to get optimum performance from the camera which is pretty solid in day light takes excellent pictures. Lowlight feature takes very good pictures. I am looking at an upgrade but this phone really does the business until it starts to deteriorate I see no reason to upgrade the 4.04 Android software has made a difference but there was nothing wring with 2.35 either. Apps improving all the time. Swiftkey is a delight to use too in all very pleased with this device. HTC present Android better than other brands. Battery is a known issue but good management resolves that problem. But if on a day trip keep that charger handy.

Mr P.
had it a year. it was great for 9 months, but then slowed right up and freezes every day or two. the only way to resolve this is take out the battery, which is very irritating to have to do every day. i wondered if this was because my 16GB card was almost full but i have since replaced it with a better-spec 32GB and also removed some music and photos, but its made no difference.

I have a Desire rather than a Desire S so this comment may possibly not apply. However I'm amazed that with all the technology it contains, most of it very good, there is no way of telling whether the phone is in standby mode or switched off! Also a simple press on the on/off button, rather than a press and hold means that it is all too easy for it to get switched on accidentally. If you don't want the switch on sound it's best to put it in airplane mode.

My first smartphone & suitably pleased 9 months on. The battery isn't outstanding but certainly no worse than equivalent phones of the time. Occasionally it does 'crash' & shows no signal but switching it on and off resolves the problem. Good camera, find the sound quality on calls better than my previous Nokia, speedy browsing & when in my pocket it is unobtrusive enough for me not to forget it is there. Once I'm due to upgrade this phone I'll probably opt for a HTC again.

It works ok. The sound of calls isnt very loud, but the reception seems good. BUT, our family got 3 HTCs as a contract and all 3 have major faults. They Switch them selves off and you have to take the battery out to reboot them, the power charger has broken on 4 of them, (yes weve had 5 due to them breaking down) and the length between charges is poor. The internet is good. It is old before its time.

Like my previous HTC this phone switches itself off especially when it loses signal, up to 10 times a day sometimes!!Works great otherwise but I won't be having another HTC

Had my Desire S for 9 months now - it all works pretty well - however the battery is way under what is required. I recharge every day for at least a couple of hours. That apart, no other problems.
