CES 2011: Cameras at CES 2011 Olympus E-PL2
The Olympus E-PL2 Pen micro four-thirds camera is similar to the E-PL2 but with a few tweaks to its body, LCD and kit lens
The Olympus E-PL2 was a sneaky unveiling at CES 2011, as Olympus didn’t actually have a booth at the show. The new micro four-thirds camera is similar in many respects to the E-PL1.
The E-PL2 has the same 12.3Mp sensor, but the casing and display have changed. Olympus says that the casing has been remodelled due to user feedback and the power button being slightly recessed to reduce the number of inadvertent switching ons is one of the tweaks that have been made.
Higher resolution screen and silent auto-focus
The monitor on the rear has had its resolution doubled to 46k dots.

Another change has been made to the 14-42mm kit lens, which Olympus has described as being MSC, or movie and stills compatible. The key change here is that the sound of the auto-focus has been decreased so films aren’t ruined by the sound of the mechanism.
Olympus Pen accessories
There are also a couple of extra accessories for mounting to the hot shoe: an alien antenna style macro lamp kit called the Macro Arm Light and a Bluetooth device for sharing images. The Bluetooth accessory is called the Pen Pal (Olympus’ micro four-third cameras are known as ‘Pens’) and it has 2GB of internal memory.
There are also three new lens converters: a macro, fish eye and wide angle. And there’s a lens adaptor that allows users to fit Olympus dSLR lenses to the E-PL2.
The Olympus E-PL” has 22 scene modes and a suite of creative filters, such as diorama, soft focus and grainy film. It has a maximum ISO sensitivity of 6,400.
The Olympus E-PL2 can shoot HD video at 720p resolution.
