Polaroid Z340 instant camera and GL10 printer July 2011
New Polaroid cameras and accessories for 2011
Polaroid doesn't have the brand clout that it used to have, but is attempting to address the issue with the return of the Polaroid instant camera, however this new version has a digital twist.
We also take a look at a Lady Gaga inspired portable printer and a budget waterproof camera and camcorder.
What's new with the old Polaroid instant camera?
The sound and even the smell of the old Polaroid instant cameras are almost as iconic as the style of pictures that they took, and Polaroid is hoping that this nostalgic glow can help shift a few of the forthcoming digital instant cameras.
So what's changed? Well with the old Polaroid cameras you released the shutter and a few seconds later a print would come out of the front of the camera. With the new digital Z340, the image can be reviewed on the 2.7-inch screen and either printed or not. The new Z340 has an SD card slot so shots not printed immediately can be printed later.

The new version of the Polaroid instant camera prints the images to a different type of paper using heat rather than the chemicals of the past. When selecting to print the image, you can choose whether you want the typical Polaroid style white border or not.
The Polaroid Z340 is due to launch before Christmas 2011 for around £230, while a pack of 30 papers costs around £13.
And what's this about a Lady Gaga printer?
Polaroid has also launched the Polaroid GL10, which has been endorsed by Lady Gaga. The portable printer uses the same paper as the Z340 instant camera and can print images through a USB connection or via a Bluetooth app that's currently available to Android and Blackberry mobile phone users.
The Polaroid GL10 will launch this summer and sell for around £120 from Amazon and Firebox.com.
Polaroid underwater camera and camcorder
Polaroid also showed off a budget waterproof camera and camcorder. The Z800 has an 8MP sensor, while the X720 camcorder is able to film HD video.
The Polaroid X800 will cost around £50 and the Polaroid X720 will sell for around £70.

Digital camera and printer reviews
At Which? we test thousands of products each year, including a broad range of digital cameras from basic point and shoot cameras to the more advanced digital SLRs.
We also lab-test printers so we can directly compare models and let you know which are the best. In our printer tests we look at:
- Print quality - In our 'portfolio' tests we use a panel of experts to scrutinise the quality of printed colour photos, black and white letters, spreadsheets and colour documents, to assess the printer's all-round printing capabilities.
- Print speed - We don't rely on the claims of manufacturers. Instead, we get the stopwatch out and scientifically measure the printers' speeds when performing a number of tasks.
- Running costs - We search the high street and online for print cartridges, and the use each one to print a number of different documents until it's run dry. We then calculate the average cost per print
See our how we test printers page for more details on our testing, or try Which? today for just £1 to see the Best Buys in our printer reviews section.
