Best 3D TV Sharp Aquos Quattron LC-60LE925
Sharp Aquos Quattron 60-inch 3DTV - huge screen, huge price, huge let-down
- Type: Active shutter
- Size: 60-inch
- Price: £3500
- Extra glasses: £100 a pair
3D Pros: Good 3D depth, especially in bright scenes
3D Cons: Awful picture noise, colour banding, yellow greens, glasses buzz, occasional crosstalk, massive price tag
The enormous 60-inch Aquos TV from Sharp comes with a price tag to match. Unfortunately, though it dwarfs the competition for size it doesn’t measure up where it matters most. Even on the big screen the 3D picture fails to match the best. Click here for the full LC-60LE925 review.
3D picture
A decent amount of depth is the one saving grace for the Aquos, but really at this price we should have a lot more pros than cons. Yet that’s not how our panel saw it. Aside from the mildly impressive depth there was a long list of grumbles. Colour banding, terrible picture noise in darker scenes, lurid colours, juddery backgrounds on sports sequences and more than a touch of crosstalk (a double ghost image) all conspire to unpick the impact of the 3D effect.
3D glasses
Not only were the glasses heavy and uncomfortable but they produced a very low-level buzz when switched on (the glasses rapidly blink on and off to synch with the left eye/right eye images on screen). Once we got going and turned the volume up it wasn’t such a big issue, but nevertheless once you’ve got your ear in it can be very annoying.
