Befriending Service

About Befriending Service

The befriending service involves a volunteer visiting someone at home for companionship and conversation for an hour or so each week. Befrienders can also help people access activities outside the home. A telephone befriending scheme is also available.

  • People aged 65 and above, who: live in Merton; are housebound; and/or living alone; and/or recently bereaved (within the last year); and/or with a recent diagnosis of a long term condition (in the last year); want to be befriended through once weekly visits and/or telephone calls; are socially isolated and not engaged with activities in the community.
