About Befriending Service Shepway

The Befriending service, run by Volunteer Centre Shepway, is intended to help relieve social isolation. A volunteer Befriender normally visits for one hour weekly for a chat and cup of tea, or perhaps to play a board game or go for a walk. They are not able to carry out personal care or household chores.

  • Adults who are living alone and are isolated/housebound in Folkestone, Hythe and the surrounding area, including people in the early stages of dementia. Referrals usually come from other agencies, but self referrals and referrals by family members are welcome.
