The charity Golden-Oldies (or Goldies) was founded by choir leader Grenville Jones, with the aim of giving older people, who may be lonely and vulnerable, social events to look forward to and take part in. The charity's work is based on the conviction that singing encourages good breathing, brightens up a person's day and gives them a chance to meet other people. The songs chosen are mainly popular hits of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s and people are encouraged to sing along, clap in rhythm to the music, tap their feet and even dance.
