Former Which? Chairman dies

Remembering one of our former chairmans

Tributes have been paid to former Which? Chairman Phillip Whitehead MEP who died over the weekend.

Phillip, who was 68, was Chairman from 1990 to 1994 and was one of our Vice Presidents. He was also a Labour MEP for the West Midlands and a former Westminster MP, as well as a producer at the BBC and latterly at his own TV production company.

Which?’s Director of Campaigns, Nick Stace, said: ‘Phillip was much more than titles and positions in public and political life. He was a wonderful human being and one of the finest champions of consumer rights.

‘For someone so busy he always had time for people, always a funny anecdote up his sleeve, and an instinct for doing the right thing, even if at times unpopular with his party. Phillip was passionate about the issues and people for whom he cared deeply.’
