Google is the UK’s most popular website according to a new Europe-wide survey.
The search engine was found to be the most popular site in 13 of the 16 countries surveyed, with Microsoft and Yahoo! the second and third most visited sites across the continent.
However, in the UK auction site eBay rather than Yahoo! is the third most popular site.
The figures from comScore also show that the average European accesses the internet on an average of 16.5 days a month and spends a total of 24 hours viewing 2,662 web pages.
The Netherlands and Scandinavian countries have the highest percentage of their populations using the internet, ranging from 68 per cent to 83 per cent.
But the UK has the most active online population, with the highest average number of daily visitors (21.8 million), the highest usage days per month (21 per user), and the highest average time spent per month per user (34.4 hours).
