Vodafone announces mobile banking service

Customers can check finances from their phones


Vodafone customers can have now access their bank accounts via their mobile phones.

The service, which is available on phones with internet access, uses the Monilink mobile banking network. 

Customers can check their balance, request a mini-statement and top-up their ‘pay as you talk’ mobile phones.


The service is free until the end of the year and covers the UK’s leading banks, including HSBC, First Direct and Alliance & Leicester.

Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest and Ulster Bank in Northern Ireland will be covered from later this summer.

Customers can now register their bank or building society account for Monilink mobile banking directly from the Vodafone Internet On Your Mobile home page. 

Once registered, customers are able to connect to their account using a secure application stored on their mobile.

Secure access

On accessing Monilink, the customer is prompted to enter a unique passcode, registered with their bank or building society, before secure access is granted to their account.

‘Banking is one of the most important services that our customers use and by partnering with the Monilink network we can ensure that all of our customers are able to access their bank accounts on the move, whenever they wish.’
