New Zetec S joins Focus range

Ford has added a sporty new Zetec S trim level to its popular Focus hatchback.

This is based on the existing Zetec equipment level, but adds a complete sports styling kit, comprising front and rear spoilers, tougher bumpers, side skirts, 17-inch alloys, and S badging.

On the inside the Zetec S adds aluminium-style pedal covers and handbrake trim.

No power upgrade for Zetec S

There are no performance upgrades, but Ford UK has reintroduced the 113bhp 1.6 petrol engine specifically for this model.

Other engine choices are 1.8 and 2.0 petrols and diesels, plus a higher-powered 2.0 diesel that is available with Ford’s impressive new twin-clutch ‘Powershift’ automatic gearbox.

The Zetec S comes as three- or five-door hatchback, and costs £750 more than the equivalent Zetec model. That’s good value, as purchasing all the added bits separately would cost more than £1,600.

Focus S from £16,545

Chequered-flag decals aren’t mandatory…

And if your Zetec S Focus still isn’t sporty enough, an extra £500 buys an additional Sport pack with 18-inch alloys and tinted windows. Or, there’s the WRC pack for £200, including WRC (World Rally Championship) scuff plates, and the pictured chequered-flag decals.

The Focus Zetec S is on sale now, priced from £16,545.
