Virgin Media has entered the mobile broadband market with a £15 a month subscription deal.

Available on an 18 month contract, Virgin Media mobile broadband includes a free USB modem and 3GB of data every month – enough for 2,000 emails, 100 hours of web surfing, 200 music tracks and 100 two minute videos according to Virgin Media.

At £15 per month, its priced the same as rival deals from Vodafone, 3 and Orange offering similar data allowances and contract lengths.

Virgin Media customers taking its XL home broadband package will get the first three month’s mobile broadband free.

Increased choice

Which? technology editor Matt Bath said. ‘It’s good to see consumer choice increasing as new mobile broadband providers enter the market.

‘However, Virgin Media’s offer is very similar to existing deals so it seems to have missed an opportunity to shake up the market with a more head-turning deal.’
