Renault prices Mégane Coupé

New Renault Mégane Coupé to start from £14,745

Renault Megane Coupe

Coupé is better looking than the five-door Mégane

Renault has announced the specification for its new Mégane Coupé, which takes the place of a conventional three-door hatchback in the new Mégane line up.

The three-door Coupé is a much more exciting looking car than the regular Mégane five-door we saw at the and, with its lowered sports suspension, is aimed at keener driving enthusiasts.

Five-seat coupé

However, the Mégane Coupé still seats five – not something you can say about the – and it has plenty of standard equipment. This includes air conditioning, six airbags, heated electric mirrors, alloy wheels, and electronic stability control, even on the entry-level Expression specification.

The biggest seller is likely to be the mid-spec Dynamique trim, which adds Bluetooth, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control, speed limiter and a stereo connection for an MP3 player.

Prices start from less than £15k

Top of the range is Privilege, featuring dual-zone climate control (driver and front passenger have independent controls), electric folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, and auto-dimming rear view mirror amongst its extra kit.

Expensive sat nav

Optional extras available include leather upholstery, sat nav (although Renault’s system is expensive, and in our experience, not especially good), heated seats, and a glass roof.

The engine choices are 1.6, 2.0, and 2.0 turbo petrols, and a selection of 1.5 and 1.9 turbodiesels with varying power outputs.

The new Megané Coupé should be available to order now, with first deliveries in January. It is priced from £14,745 to £19,195.

We’re driving the new Megané later this week, so check our car reviews page next Tuesday, 11 November, to read our first impressions.
