No need to travel to Washington with live streams


A number of websites are streaming live coverage of  Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration today.

Washington is throwing a £160 million party for Barack Obama, who will be the 44th President of the USA, and the whole event will be shown on the internet.

It’s not surprising that Obama’s inauguration should make use of new technology seeing as his journey to the White House has been hailed as one of the most effective in its use of new technologies. The Obama campaign made wide use of blogs, viral campaigns and photogalleries to keep supporters interested. 

And now supporters from around the world can watch as America welcomes its first black president.

The number of people watching online is set to be boosted by the weather in Washington – weather forecasters are predicting an unseasonably cold day prompting many people to stay home.

The official ceremony begins at 4pm GMT and you can find live streaming at:

  • Sky News will stream the event in HD between 4 – 6pm. Sky says that downloading a special player will give you the clearest possible pictures on the big day
