Samsung Acme and Memoir mobile phones rumoured

Acme, Memoir, M7600 and S7220 rumoured for launch

Samsung Memoir T929

The Samsung Memoir T929 has been launched in the US

With Mobile World Congress 2009 just around the corner, rumours of mobile phone launches from Samsung are beginning to emerge.

Barcelona’s mobile phone expo kicks off on 16th February, and there has been official confirmation of several mobile phones due to be showcased at the show – such as the Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition and the LG KM900 Arena. There is also, as always, a glut of rumours beginning to surface, particularly about mobile phone handsets from Samsung.

Samsung Memoir

Firstly, there’s the Samsung Memoir T929, which has been aimed squarely at consumers who like to take snaps on their phones. The 8Mp camera phone features a 16x digital zoom, a xenon flash and five camera scene modes. This model has recently been launched in the US exclusively on T-Mobile’s network, and we expect to hear details about a UK launch soon.

Samsung M7600 with Bang & Olufsen audio

Also rumoured to launch at the show is the Samsung M7600. The M7600 is rumoured to feature a Bang & Olufsen amplifier and DJing application, and the M7600 could come with a 2.8-inch high quality OLED screen and a 3Mp camera.

Samsung Acme with HD video

The Samsung Acme, also known as the Samsung i8910, looks like it may be set to supercede the Best Buy Samsung Omnia i900. The Acme is expected to be able to record video in high definition, sport an 8Mp camera and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Jon Barrow, Which? mobile phone expert, said: ‘If the rumours are true and the Acme can live up to its predecessors¬†high standards, then this is good news for consumers. The Omnia is a worthy best buy, and offers a great touchscreen interface.

Samsung S7220

The Samsung S7220 hasn’t been officially announced, but is also expected to be unveiled at the Samsung booth at next week’s Mobile World Congress. The candybar model has been reported to feature an 2.4-inch OLED screen, 5Mp camera and GPS.

We’ll keep you updated with news on these and other models launched at the Mobile World Congress over the next few days.
