Tesco Personal Finance creates 800 new jobs

Big step towards full banking service, says Tesco

Tesco Personal Finance today announced that it plans to create more than 800 jobs in Scotland with the opening of a new customer service centre.

The new centre will be based at Broadway One in central Glasgow and will manage customer sales and service for Tesco Personal Finance (TPF). TPF has received a grant from the Scottish Government for £5 million to assist in creating the service centre.

Andrew Higginson, Chief Executive of Tesco Retailing Services, said: ‘The opening of the new customer service centre will be a significant step towards Tesco Personal Finance offering a full banking service. 

‘Additionally, the creation of over 800 new jobs in the current climate cannot be underestimated.’

Chancellor of the Exchequer welcomes move

Alistair Darling, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, welcomes the move, commenting: ‘This is a strong vote of confidence in Scotland’s financial services industry from one of the UK’s leading companies. And it shows that even at this difficult time, the Scottish and wider UK economy is still creating high quality jobs.’

Tesco Best Buy financial products

Tesco’s Clubcard MasterCard is currently a Best Buy credit card for 0% deals on purchases. Tesco also offers Best Buy personal loans and its Personal Finance Extra pet insurance policy is a mid-range Best Buy for both dogs and cats.
