Green Flag iPhone app launched

New iPhone app from Green Flag breakdown rescue

Monday could be a record day for car breakdowns

Monday could be a record day for car breakdowns

Green Flag has beaten both the AA and the RAC to become the first breakdown service to offer an iPhone app.

The Green Flag Rescue Me motoring app is free to download via iTunes and available to both iPhone and iPod touch users – regardless of whether owners are members of the Green Flag breakdown service or not. It incorporates a number of features designed to help you on the road.

Rescue Me pinpoints your location

Its key feature is the Rescue Me function. This uses the iPhone’s built in GPS to pinpoint your exact location, so you can tell your breakdown service – whoever they may be – exactly where you are.

Green Flag is spinning this as reinforcement of its ‘commitment to offer the quickest possible recovery time to stranded motorists’. There is a button to dial its helpline direct from the Rescue Me page.

Traffic updates, motoring reminders

Beyond this, the app also includes UK Traffic Updates, prioritised by your GPS location, and a Remind Me function. Here you can enter the dates for things such as MOT, tax, and insurance all in one handy place, and be reminded when they are due.

In addition, the app includes general driving advice, as well as info on how to stay safe in the event of a breakdown. It also feeds you links to all the latest Green Flag offers.

The Green Flag Rescue Me App is available to download now.
