Pentax has unveiled a range of new digital cameras for 2010, including the retro-design Pentax I-10.

Pentax describes the old-fashioned design of the Optio I-10 as “reminiscent of the beloved SLR cameras of yesteryear and sure to create a sense of nostalgia”.

Despite its retro looks, the I-10 houses a modern 12Mp image sensor, with a face detection system, which Pentax claims can detect up to 32 faces in one shot.

The I-10 boasts a 5x optical zoom lens, beginning from a 28mm wide angle. The camera features a mechanical image stabiliser, which adjusts the sensor itself as it detects trembling hand motions. This sensor shift technology can also be used when filming video on the Optio I-10.

The Optio I-10 will be available in February, priced £199.

Pentax Optio E90 and Optio H90 compact cameras

Pentax has also unveiled the entry-level Optio E90 and H90 digital cameras – two affordable models designed for simple point-and-shoot photography.

The 12Mp Optio H90 camera weighs just 131g, and is just 2.5cm thick. It features a 5x optical zoom lens, face detection, and an HD video recording mode.

The Pentax Optio H90 will be available in February, priced £129.

The Pentax Optio E90 will be more affordable still, with a launch price of £79 when released in February.

This 10Mp camera is aimed at entry-level users with basic point-and-shoot photography needs. The Optio E90 has a 3x optical zoom, and though it allows you to record movies, it doesn’t feature the HD movie mode of the more expensive H90 model.
