Kindle update integrates Facebook and Twitter

Amazon's ebooks to offer social networking aspect

Amazon Kindle DX

The forthcoming software update for the Kindle and the Kindle DX ebook readers is to include some social networking functionality, Amazon has said.

In a post on Amazon’s website, America’s largest online retailer said the software update will allow Kindle users to share passages of their favourite ebooks directly with their friends via Facebook and Twitter.

The version 2.5 software update is designed to increase the functionality of the existing devices and users will now be able to organise their books and documents into collections and zoom into and pan around PDFs in order to more easily read small print and detailed tables and graphics.

Amazon has said it is currently trialling the update to a select group of Kindle users before conducting a broader roll out at the end of May.
