Apple iPad launches in the UK

Stephen Fry: 'A cultural rather than tech event'

Stephen Fry and the iPad

Stephen Fry described the iPad’s launch as a cultural, rather than technological event

The Apple iPad has launched in the UK and Stephen Fry was among the first British shoppers to get their hands on one at the Apple Store on London’s Regent Street.

Stephen Fry described the launch as being a ‘cultural rather than a tech event’ as he left the Apple store with shoppers who had been queuing through the night.

The Apple iPad was announced in January this year, and launched in the US in April.
