The Ricoh P10 offers a 10.7x zoom and is the third lens and sensor unit to be available for the Ricoh GXR system camera.
The Ricoh GXR system camera comprises a body that can be fitted with a combined lens and sensor unit. Until now only the GXR could be fitted with a 3x zoom unit (S10) or a fixed 50mm macro lens (A12), so the new P10 unit provides owners with a lot more zoom flexibility.
Ricoh 10.6Mp P10
At its widest the P10 provides a 28mm angle, which can be extended to a 300mm telephoto. Ricoh claims that with the P10 fitted to the GXR it is able to take up to five RAW images per second.
Which? has lab-tested the Ricoh GXR with both the S10 and the A12 lens unit.

The new P10 includes a 10.6Mp sensor and allows the GXR unit to capture HD video at 1280×720 resolution. The sensor is back-illuminated and has an ‘advanced noise reduction function’ according to Ricoh.
High dynamic range (HDR) photography
The new lens unit allows the GXR to shoot macro photographs, ideal for close up shots, and provides a dynamic range double shot mode, which takes two pictures simultaneously using different exposure settings so that both shadows and highlights in the resulting single photograph are detailed.
The Ricoh P10 alone will cost £249. The Ricoh GXR body currently costs around £400. A GXR and P10 kit will also be available. Launch dates are yet to be confirmed.
