iCandy has released details of its latest pushchair design set to hit shops from March 2011 – which includes a unique one-handed folding mechanism and adjustable forward or rearward facing seat.

UPDATE 04/04/11: We got our hands on the iCandy Strawberry at the Harrogate Nursery Fair and gave it a spin to bring you our first impressions. Check out our iCandy Strawberry first look video to see what we thought of it.

The British manufacturer hasn’t yet released pictures of its new travel system, called the Strawberry, but says some new features will ‘really make it stand out from the crowd’. iCandy is well known for its colourful and stylish models.

The Strawberry will include a ‘step and stand fold system’ that allows parents to fold the pushchair into a freestanding position using one hand, as well as a forward or rearward seat that can be positioned in three ways.

A matching carrycot will accompany the pushchair, which will be compatible with Maxi Cosi’s Cabriofix or Pebble child car seats.

iCandy Strawberry – first details

According to iCandy, the pushchair seat can also ‘remember’ the last position used, and will automatically revert to it when unfolded – saving parents the hassle of finding the setting your little one finds most comfortable.

The Strawberry will also feature an out-of-sight zip pocket for discreet storage and a ‘large’ under seat storage compartment.

If its claimed weight of 7.5kg is accurate (just the chassis and wheels), the Strawberry will be the lightest of iCandy’s fruit-themed buggies that we’ve tested in the Which? lab.
